Reconstruction of Virtual Parts from Unorganized Scanned Data for Automated Dimensional Inspection

چکیده
In the framework of Virtual CMM [1], virtual parts are proposed to be constructed as triangulated surface models. This paper presents a novel surface reconstruction method to the creation of virtual parts. It is based on the idea of identification and sculpting of concave regions of a Delaunay triangulation of the sample data. The proposed algorithm is capable of handling the reconstruction of surfaces with or without boundaries from unorganized points. Comparisons with other Delaunay-based algorithms show that it is more efficient in that it can optimally adapt to the geometric complexity of the sampled object. To validate the proposed algorithm, some detailed illustrations are given. @DOI: 10.1115/1.1565354#

Reconstructing Surfaces and Surfaces on Surfaces from Scattered 3D Data
We present an efficient and uniform approach for the automatic reconstruction of surfaces of CAD (computer aided design) models and scalar fields defined on them, from an unorganized collection of scanned point data. Example applications in the manufacturing domain are the rapid computer model reconstruction of any existing physical part from some three dimensional (3D) points scan of the part’...
متن کاملReconstruction of Three-Dimensional Objects through Matching of Their Parts
The problem of reassembling an object from its parts or fragments has never been addressed with a unified computational approach, which depends on the pure geometric form of the parts and not application-specific features. We propose a method for the automatic reconstruction of a model based on the geometry of its parts, which may be computergenerated models or range-scanned models. The matchin...
متن کاملOptical 3D-Surface Reconstruction of Weak Textured Objects Based on an Approach of Disparity Stereo Inspection
Optical 3D measurement of objects is meaningful in numerous industrial applications. In various cases shape acquisition of weak textured objects is essential. Examples are repetition parts made of plastic or ceramic such as housing parts or ceramic bottles as well as agricultural products like tubers. These parts are often conveyed in a wobbling way during the automated optical inspection. Thus...

متن کاملThree-dimensional reconstruction of New Zealand rabbit antebrachium by multidetector computed tomography
The aim of this study was to reveal biometric peculiarities of New Zealand white rabbit antebrachium (radius and ulna) by means of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images. Under general anesthesia, the antebrachiums of a total of sixteen rabbits of both sexes were scanned with a general diagnostic MDCT. Biometric measurements of the reconstructed...
